1.Insulation
The primary function of sealing the edges during manufacture means that air is trapped inside the flutes, creating an insulation effect, that enhances insulation properties greatly. The insulation that is created through sealed edging makes the boxes perfect for use within sectors where chilled produce is transported – helping to keep products chilled and fresh for longer.
2.Increased hygiene & eliminating contamination
Sealing the edges of fluted polypropylene instantly prevents anything from getting inside the flutes of the material. The barrier created by the sealed edge therefore stops anything from entering the flutes and therefore avoids contamination – something that you can’t prevent when using other materials such as cardboard or polystyrene. This is beneficial for a number of industries, and why Coolseal seafood packaging and our tertiary pharmaceutical packaging, are so widely used.
Polypropylene is also a waterproof material, meaning no permeation through it. This combined with the sealed edging makes it an attractive product for industries that involves moisture and/or food – such as the fresh produce sector.
3.Strength
Sealing the edges of the material, creates packaging with reinforced edging that increases the strength properties of the box. Combined with the material being waterproof, and impermeable to water, the strength of the material ensures that boxes don’t damage easily. Due to this strength, and lack of damage, the material provides an attractive feature where sectors require a closed-loop, returnable or reusable box solution.
